The HIGH COUNTRY STAGE for WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? – A unique mixed media presentation sponsored by Sugarbush Resort.
Ever look at some amazing footage of what one would call “Extreme” Skiers (or boarders) doing things on their boards that we look at and wonder... how’d they do that or, more likely, “WHAT WERE THEY THINKING” when they undertook that amazing run and what was going thru their mind as they careened down the mountain holding on – or so it seemed to us watching them – to, well, life itself! These questions will be answered by one of the true pioneers of Extreme, or what is now called Big Mountain Skiing – John Egan, 2016 Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame member and Sugarbush Chief Recreation Officer. Using actual footage of himself and his brother Dan Egan, as well as other top Skiers and Snowboarders John will try to answer the underlining question: WHAT WERE THEY THINKING and will follow each presentation with a question and answer segment.
And check out Warren Miller's latest, Line of Descent, in a town near you starting in November. John will be at the shows in Boston, Somerville, Worcester, Beverly and back home in BTV.
Dan and John Egan - The Egan Brothers
Game Changers Class of 2016
Campton, NH & Moretown, VT
Two of the most influential skiers of our time, Dan and John Egan skied side by side for over two decades launching cliffs, starring in films, competing on the World Pro Mogul Tour, World Pro Race Tour and performing some of the most daring descents in the world including the famous 1990 Cornice Break at Grand Tarhee, Wyoming captured in Warren Miller’s Film “Extreme Winter”.
The Egan brothers were pivotal in the growth of action sports. They founded The North Face Extreme Team and skied in locations that chronicled the geopolitical landscape of the 80’s and 90’s. Featured in more Warren Miller Films than anyone else, the Egan’s put “extreme” on the map for skiing. In addition to starring in films and movies, they narrated live film showings to promote for Warren Miller Entertainment and produced television shows including Dan Egan’s Wild World of Winter which reached over 75 million homes annually.
Since the early 90’s, Dan and John have taught thousands of skiers. As successful businessmen, they remain ambassadors for the sport of skiing.
The Robin Kaplan Memorial Golf Tournament was created after her tragic passing on September 11, 2001. Just prior, she overcame a lengthy battle with Crohn’s Disease. To honor Robin’s memory, a portion of the proceeds raised from the event are donated to CCFA and their Camp Oasis. Camp Oasis provides an unforgettable experience for children with Crohn’s Disease, ulcerative colitis or irritable bowel disease.
I had colitis and lost my colon in 2009. This is a topic very near and dear to me and I do whatever I can to help others live the best lives possible under the circumstances. I will be there, not because I'm a good golfer, but to share my story with those who will be golfing and supporting this cause.
